Here’s what you need to know.
1. Mr. Trump said Ms. Clinton’s single-payer health plan would be “catastrophic,” and referenced Canada’s single-payer system.
“You’ve noticed,” he said, “the Canadians, when they need a big operation, they come into the United States in many cases, because their system is so slow.”
2. Politifact reports that Ms. Clinton does not want to move the country to a single-payer system either. She wants to add a public option to the existing ACA exchanges.
3. Politifact also reports that Mr. Trump has had several opinions on single-payer systems. He has been both for and against single-payer systems. He is currently against the idea.
