CMS updates 6 areas of infection prevention worksheet

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released an advanced copy of the new infection prevention worksheet, according to an AAAHC report.

There will be changes to the assessment related to these six areas:

1. Immediate use steam sterilization
2. Point-of-care testing devices
3. Chemical, biological and mechanical indicator use during sterilization
4. Safe injection practices for multi-dose medication vials
5. High-touch surfaces environmental cleaning
6. Artificial nails/nail extension limitations

These revisions match information CMS previously released and there could be further changes to the worksheet when the final version is published.
