CHI St. Alexius Health, Bone and Joint Center earn total knee and hip accreditation: 3 insights

The Joint Commission awarded CHI St. Alexius Health and the Bone and Joint Center, both based in Bismarck, N.D., its total hip and knee replacement accreditation, The Bismarck Tribune reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. The Joint Commission recognized the hospital and the center for their low infection and complication rates.

2. The hospital made several changes to better the program, starting with increasing patient education and preparation quality.

3. The hospital reports its total joint replacement patients returned home after 1.2 days on average. The median length of stay is a large improvement from 2014 which touted 3.1 days for total knee surgery and 2.6 days for total hip surgery.
