California ASC gains orthopedic certification

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care awarded Sutter Sierra Surgery Center its orthopedic certification for total joint replacement.

The Roseville, Calif.-based ASC is the third center in the country to receive the distinction.

To gain the designation, applicants are evaluated on their use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, performance improvement strategies, organizational infrastructure, leadership effectiveness and orthopedic care integration.

"Congratulations to Sutter Sierra Administrator Elaine Humberd, RN, Kevin Hansen, MD, physician leader for the program, and the entire Sutter Sierra Surgery Center team," said Dennis Sindelar, RN, a regional director for Sutter Surgery Center Division. "Your hard work, dedication and commitment to your patients is truly commendable."
