Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee to Extend Patient Safety Program With $3M Grant

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee will be extending a patient safety program aimed toward reducing patient infections, according to a WREG news report.

The Tennessee Center for Patient Safety will be funded by a $3 million grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield over the next three years.

Tennessee Hospital Association President and CEO Craig Becker has said that there has been approximately 860 fewer cases of healthcare-associated infections since the inception of the program three years ago, amounting to more than $12 million in avoided costs, according to the report.
