The Joint Commission awarded Avera eCARE its Gold Seal of Approval for Ambulatory Health Care Accreditation, Midwest Medical Edition reports.

Here are three quick facts:

1. Avera was granted the accreditation after a thorough onsite survey.

2. The Joint Commission surveyors assessed Avera's compliance with ambulatory care standards related to emergency management, leadership, performance improvement, patient rights and provision of care, treatment and services.

3. Avera aims to provide healthcare systems, hospitals, outpatient clinics and other facilities with support for onsite staff members and services, help avoiding unnecessary transfers, reduced patient travel time and expense and referral coordination.
