Two awards are given annually — one for surgical/procedural care and one for primary care. This year’s winners are, in the surgical/procedural care category, Elgin (Ill.) Gastroenterology Endoscopy Center and, in the primary care category, University Health Service at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor.

EGEC’s winning QI activity was entitled “Blood Sugar Study.” The Pinehurst (N.C.) Surgical Clinic received an honorable mention for their quality improvement activity on “Informed Consent Performance Improvement.”
University Health Service’s winning QI activity was on “STD Assessment.” The University of Texas at Austin received an honorable mention for its QI activity on “Evaluation and Treatment of Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis.”
