There is more emphasis placed on the organization’s accountability measures performance. The four criteria designed to identify these measures and provide a positive impact on patient outcomes include:

1. Research — Performing evidence-based care processes
2. Proximity — Providing care closely connected to patient outcomes
3. Accuracy — Assess whether the care process was actually provided
4. Adverse effects — Measures with little or no chance of unintended adverse consequences
