Vanderbilt University names Dr. Kyla Terhune a Chancellor’s Higher Education Fellow — 4 insights

Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University tapped two professors to serve as 2017-18 Chancellor’s Higher Education Fellows, Wonder Drake, MD, and Kyla Terhune, MD.

Here’s what you should know:

1. Dr. Terhune is the vice chair of education, surgical sciences and an associate professor of surgery and anesthesiology at Vanderbilt. She earned her medical degree at Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania and completed an internship and two fellowships at Vanderbilt.

2. She also earned a MBA at Vanderbilt’s Owens Graduate School of Management.

3. Dr. Drake is an associate professor of medicine and an associate professor of pathology, microbiology and immunology at Vanderbilt. She earned her medical degree at Vanderbilt. She completed an internship and residency at Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Hospital before returning to Vanderbilt for her fellowship.

4. Vanderbilt Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos said in a release, “This program is an investment in our people. At the same time, it charts a path forward for the university by preparing the next generation to step in to fill leadership roles. Wonder and Kyla represent the very best of Vanderbilt and all that we stand for. I look forward to working with them throughout the year ahead.”
