Surgeon arrested for alleged sexual abuse of 4 patients under anesthesia — 5 details

Oral surgeon Michael Lee Hasson, DDS, was arrested Jan. 31 after being accused of sexually abusing at least four female patients, according to the Wilmington (N.C.) Police Department.

Five details:

1. Police charged Dr. Hasson of Wilmington Oral Surgery with three counts of sexual battery and one count of second degree forcible sexual offense.

2. He allegedly sexually abused patients between 17 and 21 years old while they were under anesthesia. The wrongdoing allegedly began in 2017.

3. Dr. Hasson is being held in jail. His bail was reduced from $1.25 million to $600,000, according to WLOS 13.

4. The investigation is ongoing, with additional charges to come.

5. As of Jan. 5, the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners website listed Dr. Hasson’s license in good standing.
