Hialeah, Fla.-based East Medical Office's co-owners were sentenced to prison for an illegal opioid distribution scheme, according to the Department of Justice.
Here's what you should know:
1. David Bosch and Tania Sanchez were sentenced to 108 and 97 months in prison, respectively, followed by three years of supervised release. The husband and wife were ordered to forfeit a total of $131,250.
2. The pair established East Medical Office, which masqueraded as a cash-only pain management clinic, in April 2017.
3. As part of their plea deals, Mr. Bosch and Ms. Sanchez admitted they intentionally hired a physician who would write illegal prescriptions for oxycodone and paid the physician $125 for each prescription. They also admitted to conspiring to distribute oxycodone.

4. Patient recruiter Odalys Abreu was sentenced to 57 months in prison and three years of supervised release. She was ordered to forfeit $75,000.
5. As part of her plea agreement, Ms. Abreu admitted she recruited at least 18 of her own patients to visit the center, and the recruits paid approximately $250 for each medically unnecessary consultation to receive controlled substances. The recruits were prescribed 5,000-plus tablets of oxycodone 30 mg.
6. Mr. Bosch and Ms. Sanchez were arrested May 3. All three defendants pleaded guilty in August to one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
7. Ledif Acanda Machado was also charged in the conspiracy but remains a fugitive.
