Medicare reimbursements for anesthesia are declining, and with a rising provider shortage and increasing demand, many leaders are concerned about how these factors will affect patient care. 

Here are seven anesthesia updates Becker's has reported on since Sept. 19:

Kellie Deeter, a certified registered nurse anesthetist and nurse practitioner, has announced her campaign for Ohio's 54th House District, according to an Oct. 6 report from The Chronicle.

The median pay for anesthesiology physicians rose 10 percent from 2022 to 2023, according to Sullivan Cotter's 2022-23 "Physician Compensation and Productivity Report."

The highest paid anesthesiologist in San Francisco earns $843,300 per year, according to Medscape's salary reporter tool, which is much higher than the mean annual wage of $302,970 anesthesiologists make according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
