The American Medical Association has been instructed by the AMA House of Delegates to identify and review states whose governors have opted out of the federal Medicare physician supervision requirements for anesthesia provision, according to an American Medical News report.

The global general anesthesia disposables market is expected to reach $343.5 million by 2017, mainly driven by the growing number of surgical procedures and increasing concerns over infection control and cross-contamination, according to research by Global Industry Analysts.
