Dr. Swaminathan is a cardiovascular anesthesiologist with Duke Anesthesiology in Durham, N.C. He serves as vice chair of faculty development and clinical director of cardiothoracic anesthesiology, as well as an anesthesiology professor.
Historically, the ASE has almost exclusively elected cardiologists to serve as president.
