1. Both physicians are members of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
2. Dr. Adams is Indiana’s state health commissioner. He is also an assistant professor of clinical anesthesia at Indiana University School of Medicine and a staff anesthesiologist at Eskenazi Health, both located in Indianapolis.
3. Dr. Mackey is chief of the division of pain medicine and Redlich Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, Neurosciences and Neurology at Stanford University Medical Center in Redwood City, Calif.
4. Dr. Adams discussed the interaction between pain medicine and the opioid epidemic, while Dr. Mackey testified on the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine report, Relieving Pain in America.
