CMS is instructing contractors to update all claims processing files to use the updated locale-specific conversion factors. Claims paid using the originally published conversion factors will not be automatically reprocessed.
The updated locale-specific conversion factors are all slightly greater than the originally published figures, according to the ASA. Increases range from $0.08 to $0.13 per unit, or an increase of 0.42 percent to 0.59 percent above the originally posted figures for 2012.
