Dr. Aslakson serves as an associate professor in the anesthesiology and critical care department at Baltimore-based John Hopkins Medicine and is a core faculty member in the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality. She is a founding and current member of the ASA Subcommittee on Palliative Medicine.
As part of her research work, Dr. Aslakson has completed a two-year study exploring the palliative care-related experiences of patients and families in surgical critical care units, and she has examined the influence quality communication can have on the prognosis in long-stay surgical intensive care unit patients.
