Under the legislation, nurse anesthetists are permitted to “administer a lumbar intra-laminar epidural steroid injection if requested by and under the supervision of a physician and under conditions in which timely on-site consultation by such physician is available,” according to the release. Nurse anesthetists are not permitted to open free-standing pain management facilities without the supervision of a physician.
