Dr. Elmassian said that he has “personally found that the shortages of anesthesia drugs are pandemic.” He pointed out that the ASA convened a national drug shortages summit in an attempt to address ongoing issues and conducted a nationwide survey to learn more about the shortage’s impact.
Additionally, he said the ASA supports President Barack Obama’s executive order to prevent future issues.
