According to Mr. Mira, the latest compensation survey reports released by Medscape and the Medical Group Management Association as well as the compensation figures produced by Jackson & Coker’s physician salary calculator all provide different numbers for anesthesiologist compensation.

The method of data collection and the survey definitions are among the other factors affecting the information synthesized and making apples-to-apples comparisons between the surveys very difficult. Also, organizations don’t always give many details regarding their survey methodologies and the characteristics of the respondents.

Reliable survey data is important for negotiating, planning and other activities. Hence, it is necessary to use survey data that is transparent and use less transparent data as supplemental information, according to the blog post.
