Anesthesia services agreements commonly include a "Medical Director" section, but hospitals now have greater expectations of the role, according to Anesthesia Business Consultants President and CEO Tony Mira.

1. The anesthesia practice must have a unified voice and the authority to fulfill all promises and representations.
2. The medical director must facilitate a productive partnership between anesthesia providers and operating room staff.
3. The anesthesia team should make recommendations as to how the hospital can improve efficiency.
