Health systems, hospitals and professional groups nationwide named new anesthesiology leaders this month, with appointments spanning clinical directorships, department chairs, board seats and promotions across academic medical centers, children’s hospitals and medical device companies.
1. Jeff Small, MD, assistant professor of anesthesiology at WashU Medicine, was named interim clinical director of general anesthesiology at St. Louis-based Missouri Baptist Medical Center, effective July 1.
2. Scott Falk, MD, was named chair of anesthesiology at Atlantic City, N.J.-based AtlantiCare.
3. Stephanie Jones, MD, chair of New York City-based Northwell Health Anesthesiology was appointed to the 2026 Northwell Health Physician Partners Board of Governors, according to a LinkedIn post from the group.
4. Trevor Sutton, MD, was elected to the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ Committee on Professional Development and the Committee on Patient Safety and Education, according to a Facebook post from East Hartford, Conn.-based Integrated Anesthesia Associates. Dr. Sutton will serve a two-year term starting in 2027.
5. Andrew Costandi, MD, was named anesthesiologist-in-chief and department chair of anesthesiology critical care medicine at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles effective Aug. 1.
6. Jon Nguyen, MD, was named chief operating officer of Santa Ana, Calif.-based Talbert Anesthesia Group.
7. Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Anesthesiology promoted six clinical faculty members — James Krakowski, MD; Christine McKenzie, MD; Samuel Blacker, MD; and Bryant Tran, MD to clinical professor of anesthesiology, effective June 1, and Elisa Takalo, MD to clinical associate professor, also effective June 1, along with Daniel Rosenkrans, MD to clinical associate professor effective July 1.
8. Seattle-based medical device company Blink Anesthesia has appointed Jeff Feldman, MD, to its board of directors.
