5 new ASC 1sts in 2025

Here are five new landmark ASCs that are firsts throughout the industry, as reported by Becker’s so far in 2025:

  1. The University of Maryland in Baltimore announced plans to develop the first AI-powered “smart” ASC.
  2. Nashville, Tenn.-based ASC company Regent Surgical entered into a partnership with Patches Kids Care to develop ASCs, marking its first venture into pediatric care.
  3. Knoxville-based Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance East Tennessee opened its first ASC in the state, the Parkwest Surgery Center.
  4. Medtech company Smith+Nephew partnered with Standard Health to develop the first orthopedic ASC in the United Kingdom. 
  5. Lestonnac Free Clinic opened a new free-of-charge surgery center in Orange County, Calif., the first free surgery center in the U.S.
