Florida ophthalmology practice suffers data breach affecting 150,000 individuals

Retina Group of Florida was hit with a data breach affecting 152,691 individuals, according to a Sept. 17 report from The HIPAA Journal.

The practice identified suspicious activity on its network Nov. 9, 2025. Following an investigation, it was determined that there was unauthorized access to its network starting Nov. 6, 2024.

While the unauthorized party had access to the network, patient data may have been copied. 

The practice submitted that incident to the HHS Department’s Office for Civil Rights Breach Portal Sept. 9.

Retina Group of Florida has more than 20 locations throughout the state, according to its website.
