Michael Sisson, MD, an anesthesiologist, has died at age 77, according to an obituary published by the Cape Cod Times Sept. 4.
Dr. Sisson earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Tufts University in Boston. He went on to complete a residency in general surgery at Rhode Island Hospital through Brown University in Providence and a residency in anesthesiology at what is now Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston through Harvard University.
He then served as an anesthesiologist at Cape Cod (Mass.) Hospital from 1979 until 1984, when Dr. Sisson suffered a severe stroke, cutting his career short. He eventually recovered, “a testament to his perseverance and determination,” assisted by the then-new phenomenon of personal computing. He continued to serve his community through volunteering at local organizations and took up a lifelong interest in computer technology.
