Rapid City, S.D.-based Same Day Surgery Center is introducing the first da Vinci 5 robotic surgery program to western South Dakota, expanding access to minimally invasive procedures, according to a July 8 news report from keloland.com.

The new robotic system offers haptic technology, enhanced visualization and improved precision, allowing for less invasive surgeries, reduced pain and faster recovery times, according to the report.

With the addition, the facility aims to reduce wait times and keep patients local by eliminating the need to travel to larger medical centers for advanced surgical care.

Same Day Surgery Center works with Rapid City-based Monument Health to serve the Black Hills region in South Dakota.
