It’s no secret that the majority of health systems are starting to shift their focus to the outpatient setting.
ASCs and outpatient care facilities offer a number of advantages to patients, physicians and payers, including faster recovery times, lower costs and a growing number of high-acuity procedure options.
Here are five health systems that have partnered with major ASC management organizations in the last two years:
- Downers Grove, Ill.-based Duly Health and Care launched a strategic partnership with ASC management services organization Surgery Partners, based in Brentwood, Tenn. Surgery Partners now has a stake in Duly’s ASCs in Lombard and Westmont, Ill.
- Cincinnati-based Bon Secour Mercy Health System, a 48-hospital Catholic system, teamed up with Raleigh, N.C-based Compass Surgical Partners to build out more than 30 ASCs.
- Escondido, Calif.-based Palomar Health and AmSurg formed a joint venture with the health system’s Poway (Calif.) Surgery Center. The partnership aims to expand access to care and accelerate improvements in quality outpatient care for patients in Poway and the greater San Diego community.
- Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Parkview Health formed an ASC joint venture with Surgery Partners to expand its surgical care offerings with independent physician groups.
- Dallas-based Methodist Health System, a 12-hospital system, partnered with Surgery Partners to acquire and open ambulatory surgery centers in North Texas.
