For ASCs to be built in Virgina, providers must first gain approval through the state health department’s certificate of public need regulatory program, according to the report.

MedRVA gained permission to relocate an existing general-purpose operating room at another facility and create a new specialty eye-focused operating room for the new center.

The surgery center is expected to open in early July 2024.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
