2 GI studies recognized by research forum

The Clinical Research Forum on March 30 announced the recipients of its 2021 Top 10 Clinical Research Achievement Awards, and two of them are gastroenterology-focused.

The study, “Anti-Selig-8 Antibody for Eosinophilic Gastritis and Duodenitis” was presented by Evan Dellon, MD, a professor of medicine in the division of gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The study looks at a potential therapeutic treatment for patients with eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders and duodenitis.

The other study, “Integrating Global Health with the Microbiome,” was presented by Jeffrey Gordon, MD the Dr. Robert J. Glaser Distinguished University Professor at Washington University in St. Louis. The study examined and reclassified current understanding of gut physiology in children with stunted growth.

The Clinical Research Forum honors “groundbreaking clinical and translational research advances that benefit the health and welfare of all Americans,” according to a March 30 news release. Recipients of the award were chosen through nominations within the scientific community. Read the full list of recipients here.
