New Jersey hospital completes endoscopy suite renovation — 5 insights

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, N.J., finished renovating its endoscopy suite, according to TAPinto.net.

Five things to know:

1. Located on the hospital’s third floor, the renovated space features three procedure rooms, five preoperative patient bays, six postoperative patient bays and one private isolation room.

2. A new family waiting area includes space for private conversations with care teams.

3. Equipped with new endoscopy equipment, scopes and processing units, the suite offers procedures including colonoscopies, upper GI endoscopies, pulmonary bronchoscopies and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography procedures.

4. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, patients must be tested before their procedures. They must also wear masks and submit to temperature checks upon entering the hospital with no more than one accompanying visitor.

5. The hospital is adhering to strict cleaning protocols, staggering appointments and facilitating social distancing with reconfigured waiting rooms.
