New York hospital opens esophageal, reflux center — 3 insights

Suffern, N.Y.-based Good Samaritan Hospital opened an Esophageal and Reflux Center, making it the only hospital in New York’s Rockland and Orange counties to have a dedicated center, the Rockland Times reports.

What you should know:

1. Gastroenterologists, thoracic surgeons, pathologists and radiologists will collaborate to staff the center. A team of specialists from each discipline will see patients.

2. The center will provide treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease and an array of other esophageal conditions.

3. Good Samaritan wanted to build the center to create a space for specifically devoted to treating patients with GERD or other similar diseases.
