Oregon children’s hospital designated a level 1 children’s surgery center — 3 insights

The American College of Surgeons bestowed level 1 children’s surgery center designation on Portland, Ore.-based Randall Children’s Hospital, the Portland Business Journal reports.

1. The hospital is the second in Oregon to receive the designation.

2. The designation is the latest in a line of such honors for Randall Children’s. The hospital was the first in the Pacific Northwest to earn level 1 pediatric trauma center verification.

3. Randall Children’s had to meet a series of staffing, training and infrastructure requirements to earn the designation.
