“It’s something to build on,” he said during a panel organized by S&P Global.
Three opinions from Mr. Rittenmeyer:
1. “Medicare for All” would be too expensive if implemented the way proponents have described.
2. Under such a system, according to Mr. Rittenmeyer, hospitals’ reimbursement rates would be too low to make up for the extra revenue they currently get from private insurers.
3. Policymakers have a hard time understanding the effects of their policies; they’d think about the need for access to high-quality care differently if their own loved ones were sick, Mr. Rittenmeyer said.
