Three things to know:
1. Dr. Davies and Mr. Anderson told the Duluth News Tribune they use a nonopioid anesthetic during surgery to reduce patients’ need for opioids after surgery.
2. Mr. Anderson said nine out of 10 patients he cares for don’t use opioids after surgery. The ones that do receive low doses.
3. Dr. Davies and Mr. Anderson are in the process of partnering with orthopedic and plastic surgery groups to open a pain management center at Lakewalk Surgery Center.
