David Walega, MD, testified to the House Committee on Small Business about removing barriers to pain care, the burden of prior authorization, and challenges related to the opioid epidemic, according to the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
Dr. Walega delivered his testimony during the house committee's Sept. 11 hearing on "Utilization Management: Barriers to Care and Burdens on Small Medical Practice."
Board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, Dr. Walega is an ASA member practicing at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. For nearly two decades, he has treated patients suffering from chronic and cancer-related pain.
