According to the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, hosting lawmakers during August is an effective way of advocating for the surgery center industry. The Surgery Center of Cleveland in Tennessee hosted Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn. During her visit, administrator Marietha Silvers told the senator that the ASC saves $100 million in Medicare spending for the state.

Pacific Surgery Center in Poulsbo, Wash. hosted Rep. Derek Kilmer, D-Washington.

ASCs interested in hosting lawmakers can sign up on the ASCA website.
