1. More than 2,200 ambulatory care organizations are accredited by The Joint Commission.
2. The Joint Commission’s ambulatory care accreditation program launched in 1975. Accredited facilities include ASCs, imaging centers and community health centers.
3. ASCs can pursue voluntary deemed status through The Joint Commission, which recognizes them as meeting or exceeding quality requirements for organizations receiving payments from CMS.
4. Accreditation is awarded for three years and is given based on an on-site survey
