3 tips on effectively managing an ASC supply chain budget

Sticking to an ASC supply chain budget can be tough, according to Kerri Ubaldi, RN, vice president of operations for Merritt Healthcare, who shared tips with the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses.

Three key insights:

1. Keep an eye on service contracts. Reviewing service contracts and comparing them to other options from vendors can help supply chain staff choose the most cost-effective option.

2. Regularly review statistics. Looking over the costs of supplies, procedures and equipment can help ASCs make financial decisions about staffing and surgeon performance.

3. Get physicians on board. Physicians should be educated about the ASC’s supply chain budget and the effects of going over budget.
