Sutter ASC staff sent snacks & support to colleague in Army Reserves — 4 highlights

Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Alhambra Surgery Center employees received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves’ Above & Beyond Award Jan. 17.

Four highlights:

1. Director of Nursing Ernesto Brizuela, RN, BSN, nominated his colleagues for the award for supporting him during his nine-month assignment in the U.S. Army Reserves.

2. Mr. Brizuela served as a medical surgical nurse in Honduras. He returned home in December 2018.

3. While he was away, his colleagues at SASC covered his duties, sent care packages full of his favorite treats and called to check in on him.

4. The Above & Beyond Award recognizes employers that go the extra mile to support their National Guard and Reservist service member employees with non-mandated benefits.
