Here’s what you should know:
1. Dr. Namati replaces Christopher von Jako, PhD, who will now serve as an independent board member.
2. Dr. Namati will assume day-to-day leadership at the company. He will collaborate with Merit Medical Systems, which manages the sales distribution and customer service for NinePoint’s NvisionVLE Imaging System.
3. Dr. Namati joined NinePoint Medical in 2010 as a technical co-founder. He has served as research and development vice president for four years.
During his time with the company, Dr. Namati has “established a track record of building and successfully leading diverse and highly technical teams through the development and commercialization of complex medical instruments,” Board Chairman Tom Miller said.
4. Prior to joining NinePoint, Dr. Namati developed optical imaging systems as a researcher at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital. He helped develop the Optical Coherence Tomography technology licensed to NinePoint Medical.
5. NinePoint is pioneering the use of Optical Coherence Tomography for gastrointestinal applications. NinePoint’s NvisionVLE Imaging System provides a high-resolution, real-time scan of the esophagus using OCT.
