NJAASC announces one-room mentoring program

With the passage of the one room licensure law in January, registered surgical practices in New Jersey will have to be licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health.

“This can be a very daunting task for these centers, many of whom are not familiar with the complex and intricate rules and regulations that go along with licensure,” said Jeff Shanton, President, NJAASC. “While the NJDOH had training sessions in May for all RSPs, there are still a myriad of questions that these centers have; I address concerns from these centers every day, as well as questions posted on our Member Forum.”

Pursuant to this process, NJAASC has decided to launch a One Room Mentoring Program, wherein licensed member centers of NJAASC will be matched with member RSPs so that these centers have someone to contact with issues and questions.

“If the RSPs have a dedicated contact, someone they can in real time utilize for assistance, and someone who is and has experienced the process, I feel it is a winning situation,” said Mr. Shanton.
“I feel that it is our responsibility as the industry organization for New Jersey ASCs, to do all we can to help those that may be unfamiliar with the process.”
