1. The milestone procedure was also the development company’s 10,000th joint replacement procedure in a 12-month span.

2. SurgCenter performed a record number of joint replacements in 2017. Affiliated centers performed 8,300-plus procedures at 87 facilities in 20 states.

3. Affiliated centers discharged 97 percent of joint replacement recipients the same day. Patients needed only four hours to recover, on average.

4. Concerning specific joints, 97 percent of hip replacement patients and 99 percent of uni-knee replacement patients went home the same day. SurgCenter patients had a 0.4 percent readmission rate and all joint replacement-related procedures had a combined infection rate of less than 0.25 percent.

SurgCenter Development COO and Principal Greg Fox, MD, said, “No one has been doing as many joint replacements as long and as well as SurgCenter Development. As the leader in outpatient joint replacement, SurgCenter supports surgeons who are committed to the highest quality of care in a comfortable setting that provides patients a rapid recovery.
