Here are four quick employment updates.
Numbers are seasonally adjusted for regular fluctuations in employment levels resulting from situations such as weather changes and major holidays.
1. Healthcare added 24,400 jobs in April. The industry added 305,400 jobs over the year.
The healthcare segment includes ambulatory health care services, hospitals and nursing and residential care facilities.
2. From March to April, ambulatory healthcare services employment rose by 16,900 to reach 7,453,500.
The segment includes offices of physicians, dentists and other health practitioners; outpatient care centers; medical and diagnostic laboratories; home healthcare services; and other ambulatory healthcare services.
3. Outpatient care centers employed 888,300 people in April 2017. That number rose to 924,700 in April 2018. This year, employment in the segment grew by 1,600 from March to April.
4. Hospital employment rose by 8,000 to 5,159,800 in April.
