Here are four things to know:
1. With the exception of Germany, all countries in the seven major markets — the U.S., France, Germany, Italy, Spain, U.K. and Japan — will see an increase in diagnosed cases of Crohn’s disease.
2. The largest increases are expected in the U.S., France and Japan due to both increases in Crohn’s disease prevalence and population changes.
3. France is projected to have the highest annual growth rate of diagnosed Crohn’s disease at 4.04 percent, almost double the overall AGR of the seven major markets at 2.09 percent. Crohn’s disease is higher in women compared with men in France; risk factors for Crohn’s disease may vary by sex.
4. Changes in Crohn’s disease frequency disease have traditionally been thought of as a result of environmental factors, according to GlobalData healthcare analyst Nanthida Nanthavong.
