GI leader to know: Dr. Kenneth Mirkin of Gastroenterology Associates of Northern Virginia

Kenneth Mirkin, MD, is a gastroenterologist at Fairfax-based Gastroenterology Associates of Northern Virginia.

After earning his medical degree from Detroit-based Wayne State University, he completed a residency and fellowship at Mansfield-based University of Connecticut.

Dr. Mirkin is a member of several professional societies including the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

He opened his own private practice in Northern Virginia in 1983. He later merged his practice with two others to form Gastroenterology Associates of Northern Virginia.

Dr. Mirkin is a past chief of gastroenterology at Inova Fairfax (Va.) Hospital. He also served on the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s medical advisory board for more than a decade.
