University Hospitals appoints former Envision executive to lead venture arm — 4 insights

Eric Beck, DO, joined Cleveland-based University Hospitals as president of UH Ventures, effective Jan. 22.

Here’s what you should know:

1. In his new position, Dr. Beck will help create new revenue branches for University Hospitals.

2. UH Ventures was launched in 2017. Its first enterprise, Specialty Pharmacy, provides patients with complex diseases accelerated access to medication.

3. Dr. Beck most recently worked at Denton-based University of North Texas Health Science Center, where he was president and CEO of their clinical enterprise. Before that he was a senior executive with Envision Healthcare.

4. Dr. Beck earned his osteopathic degree from Athens-based Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a residency at University of Chicago Medical Center and a fellowship in emergency medical services with the Chicago Fire Department. He later earned a master’s degree in healthcare population management at Chicago-based Loyola University.
