Here’s what you should know:
1. Wayne Hendrix, MD, pointed a gun at a hospital worker, while threatening to kill himself, before barricading himself in a hospital room. The hospital was evacuated as SWAT team members and Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputies searched for Dr. Hendrix.
The sheriff’s department found him in the room and attempted to negotiate with him. After Dr. Hendrix failed to respond, deputies gained access to the room and found him dead.
2. Dr. Hendrix earned his medical degree from Salt Lake City-based University of Utah. He was completing his residency at Froedtert Hospital. A hospital spokesperson declined to say if Dr. Hendrix was a patient or a physician at the time of his death.
3. The hospital released a statement saying, “Our hearts go out to the family, colleagues and friends who are grieving during this difficult time.”
4. No further details were released on the case.
