Dr. Gaines began his career after earning his medical degree from Birmingham-based University of Alabama. He stayed at the university for his internship and residency before completing a fellowship at Charleston-based Medical University of South Carolina.
He is a member of several professional societies including the American College of Gastroenterology, South Carolina Gastroenterology Association and South Carolina Medical Association.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Gaines is a hiker, biker and boater.
