VMG Health compiled staffing hours per case for nurses at multispecialty centers in VMG Health’s Multi-Specialty ASC Intellimarker 2017.

VMG surveyed 278 surgery centers around the country with an aggregate case volume of more than 1.3 million. VMG also incorporated 2015 and 2016 data into its updated 2017 figures.

Here’s what you should know:

All facilities: 6.5 hours per case
Atlantic: 6.1 hours per case
Midwest: 6.6 hours per case
Mountain: 6.6 hours per case
Northeast: 5.8 hours per case
Pacific: 6.5 hours per case
South: 6.7 hours per case
