Delaware health system plans surgery center — 3 insights

Lewes, Del.-based Beebe Healthcare is planning to open a specialty surgery center in Rehoboth, Del., Coastal Point reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. The surgery center will be part of a $180 million expansion that’ll see the health system open a freestanding emergency department and a cancer center in Tunnell, Conn., the surgery center in Rehoboth and a full-service satellite facility in Millville, Conn.

2. The surgery center will feature a Minimally Invasive Surgical Center of Excellence.

3. The Beebe Medical Foundation is leading a major capital campaign to raise funds for the medical expansion.
